American Legion Post 433 Plans December Cookie Walk

New Providence American Legion Post 433 will welcome residents to its annual Cookie Walk on Saturday, Dec. 12, from 11 a.m. until the cookies run out. The holiday fundraiser will be held at the American Legion Hall, 357 Elkwood Ave., beside the New Providence Memorial Library.

For a $5 donation, visitors may select homemade cookies to take home in a decorative holiday box. The event raises funds for improvements to the Post home while bringing together volunteer bakers, Legion supporters and neighbors at the start of the holiday season.

This year’s Cookie Walk will introduce a Bakers Raffle for those who contribute cookies. Five local-business gift cards will be awarded to five volunteer bakers. Organizers said anyone who bakes cookies for the event is eligible to enter the raffle.

Cookie donations will be accepted at the Legion Hall on Friday, Dec. 11, from 4 to 9 p.m. Donors are asked to bring their cookies on a disposable tray so the volunteer team can prepare for the following day’s sale.

The event builds on the response to last year’s Cookie Walk, which included a judging component led by Joe Murphy, owner of Bakehouse. This year’s gathering will again center on homemade holiday baking and community support for local veterans. Santa is also expected to greet visitors during the event.

Residents who would like to contribute baked goods, support the fundraiser or pick up a holiday box of cookies are invited to stop by while supplies last.
