Hosted by New Providence Community Activities, the celebration brought seniors together for music, sing-alongs, trivia and cake. Mini reunions unfolded as guests reconnected, posed for photographs and shared memories of New Providence.
Colorful balloons, birthday crowns and smiling faces captured the spirit of the gathering. The occasion offered a chance to recognize these residents while celebrating the friendships and experiences that connect them to their community.
That sense of connection is part of the center’s everyday purpose. Home to the New Providence Senior Citizens Club, DeCorso offers residents ages 55 and older opportunities to socialize, exercise, learn, create and volunteer alongside their peers.
The club was established in 1959, and the DeCorso family donated the facility to the borough in 1977. Today, its spaces accommodate everything from performances and presentations to games, exercise and celebrations.
November’s calendar continues that variety with music, bingo, painting, a book discussion and opportunities to serve others. A November 23 sandwich-making project will support the Our Lady of Peace Sandwich Ministry, which distributes sandwiches to six local soup kitchens and food pantries.
The center is located at 15 East Fourth Street in New Providence and is open weekdays from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Most programs are free, although some require registration or an RSVP.
