The 26,000-square-foot building brings expanded program areas, administrative offices and related resources together under one roof for the first time in the organization’s history. Our House said the space was designed around growth, innovation and accessibility as the nonprofit continues to serve individuals and families throughout the region.
The new location includes learning and activity spaces, training kitchens, sensory rooms and on-site nursing support. The purpose-built environment is intended to provide opportunities for participants to build practical life skills, explore interests and take part in activities in a supportive setting.
Spring Street will house several of Our House’s signature day programs, including Hope Autism Solutions, a full-day life-enhancement program for adults with autism spectrum disorder, and the Volunteer Action Program, whose participants volunteer year-round with local nonprofit organizations. The facility will also be home to a new SkillsUp pre-vocational training program planned for 2027. The two-year program is designed to provide hands-on experience for people preparing to enter the workforce.
Founded in 1980, Our House provides community residences, employment services, day programs, social opportunities and related support services. The organization currently serves more than 365 individuals across Essex, Morris, Middlesex, Somerset and Union counties.
Our House credited ENV Architecture + Design and Unity Construction Services for their work on the building. The organization said the Spring Street opening gives it a foundation for future growth while remaining focused on helping individuals live meaningful, productive and fulfilling lives.
